***(PLEASE READ) UPDATE 8/17/08: Ever since this video has been uploaded, numerous people have asked the same question: “Will Wii Speak work with past Wii games like Brawl & Mario Kart?” Well, the answer is: I… DON’T… KNOW! Nintendo has said nothing about it, so I don’t know. Sorry, but I’m sick and tired of seeing that question every single time I check the comments for this video. Personally, I doubt it because during the development of those games, Nintendo was still looking into how they would do voice chat for the Wii, so I doubt the code for the Wii Speak functionality is already in those games. Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know. I will do an update if any information on the subject comes along. But until then, please refrain from asking that question! O_O***

In this video, Nintendo makes 2 huge announcements. First, they reveal the new Animal Crossing game for Wii. It will bring many MMO elements to the Animal Crossing formula. I’m all for that. Secondly, they finally reveal their answer to voice chat: Wii Speak. It’ll be a microphone and a speaker that you put on the top of your sensor bar. About friggin time Nintendo! Unfortunately, these were the only real significant announcements made at Nintendo’s Press Conference because, to put it frankly, the rest of it SUCKED.
